How to answer 'Tell me about yourself.' question in interviews
This is as open as a question can be. Keep it in mind that from the very begining of the interview, your aim is to demonstrate that you're the most suitable candidate for the job. Consequently, it's up to you to set the boundaries and make sure you stick to points that are informative and relevant. The interviewer wants you to include thinks like:
Your current position
Your background, education and training
The skills and strengths that make you good at your job
Your experience and accomplishments
The high points of your career so far
What attracted you to your parrticular field and how you got into it
Your goals for the future
What to do
You need, of course, to tailor your answer and take into consideration the skills, strengths, aptitudes and experience - the competencies - required for the job.
What to avoid
Make sure that each of your points is relevant and to the point. Flaunting your singing skills in a typing job is as peculiar as showing off your typing speed in a singing reality show.
An advice for freshers
Those who are first timers or don't possess any work experience can highlight their accomplishments they made at college. They can also bring the interviewer's focus on their key strengths or skills which are relevant to the job profile they apply for.
